Manistee Sphynx

Outcross

The Sphynx is still considered rare to which the lineage is not as extensive as many other breeds.  In order to develop healthy and hearty "new" bloodlines some breeders have decided to do out crossing to broaden the gene pool.

Breeders try to search for the right cat to enhance the features of the Sphynx, so as not to "over breed" causing to add to the numbers of unwanted pets.  The Domestic Shorthair and the American Shorthair are two of the breeds most used in any one outcross program today.

The program takes awhile for a new gene pool to generate kittens that can be shown but all kittens tend to carry the traits of the Sphynx.

I will be working toward an outcross program in the near future.  Please stop back if at all interested and maybe you could adopt a f3 coated outcross as a pet.

Below are some photos of Chyna, a F2 Sphynx Queen who is now a member of our family. She will have hairless, pointed, blue-eyed kittens available to pet homes this Winter 2008.
